Zesty Italian Barbecue Meatballs

Meatball Ingredients

• 2 pounds ground turkey, lamb or lean ground beef
• 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
• 1 cup dried bread crumbs
• 1/4 cup fresh Italian parsley, minced
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
• 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
• 2 eggs, beaten

Sauce Ingredients

• 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce
• 3/4 tomato paste
• 1/2 cup ketchup
• 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
• 1/2 cup water
• 1 teaspoon liquid smoke

In a mixing bowl, combine the meatball ingredients. Form into walnut-sized balls.

Bake the meatballs in a shallow baking dish at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until browned. Drain off any fat. ?Transfer the meatballs to your slow cooker.

In a separate mixing bowl, combine the sauce ingredients and mix thoroughly. ?Pour the sauce over the meatballs and stir lightly.

Cover and cook on Low for 4 hours (or on High for 2 hours). Stir once in the middle of cooking to baste the meatballs with sauce. ?Remove the meatballs from the sauce and serve.

Black Sabbath drummer says may pull out of reunion (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) ? Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward has said he will not participate in the British heavy metal band's reunion recordings and tour unless he is offered a "signable" contract.

The statement on his website casts further doubt on the much-hyped return of the veteran rockers, who announced last November that the original line-up were getting back together to write and record their first album in more than 30 years.

They also unveiled plans for a world tour in 2012.

But last month, guitarist Tony Iommi was diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma and, to accommodate his treatment, the band moved from the United States to Birmingham in Britain to continue writing and recording.

The founding members of the heavy metal pioneers were Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Iommi, Geezer Butler on bass guitar and Ward.

"At this time, I would love nothing more than to be able to proceed with the Black Sabbath album and tour," Ward said on his website.

"However, I am unable to continue unless a 'signable' contract is drawn up; a contract that reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band."

He said he worked with the other Black Sabbath members "in good faith" last year and agreed to appear alongside them at the November press conference in Los Angeles.

"Several days ago, after nearly a year of trying to negotiate, another 'unsignable' contract was handed to me."

He said he was keen to play on the new album and tour, and was already packed and ready to leave the United States for Britain to join the band.

Ward described feeling "lousy and lonely," but added that he stood to lose his "rights, dignity and respectability as a rock musician" if he signed the contract offered to him.

"If I'm replaced, I have to face you, the beloved Sabbath fans. I hope you will not hold me responsible for the failure of an original Black Sabbath lineup as promoted."

He also said his motives were not "greed-driven" and that he was not holding out for a big pay day "like some kind of blackmail deal."

Black Sabbath have sold an estimated 70 million records worldwide, and, like other veteran acts with a large fan base, a reunion tour and recording could prove highly lucrative.

The quartet released their last studio album of all original material in 1978 with "Never Say Die."

Osbourne was fired from the band in 1979, leading to changing line-ups for several years. The original foursome reunited for a 1998 release and played sporadically together in the early 2000s.

Stocks rally on strong manufacturing data

U.S. stocks had a big January, and they're starting February strong, too.

Stocks climbed Wednesday after strong manufacturing data and encouraging reports about the Greek debt crisis.

Factories raised output in January by the most in seven months, according to the Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index. And the Commerce Department said construction spending rose 1.5 percent in December, the fifth straight monthly gain.

"This is a market that is hungry for good news, and when it gets it, it responds very positively," said Alan Gayle, senior investment strategist for RidgeWorth Investments.

The Dow was up?79.05 points, or 0.63?percent to 12,711.96. The index was up?151 points earlier in the day. The Standard & Poor's 500 index was up?11.68 points, or?0.89 percent, to 1,324.09. The Nasdaq composite rose?34.40?points,?1.22 percent, to 2,848.24.

All 10 categories in the S&P 500 rose. The biggest gainer was financial stocks, up 2 percent.

On Tuesday, stocks wrapped up their best January in 15 years. The Dow is now up 4.5 percent for 2012. How come?

Investor fears are subsiding. They don't believe a European collapse is imminent, and they're not as worried about the exposure of U.S. financial companies to European debt. Earnings at American companies are generally meeting expectations.

Greece and the International Monetary Fund said Wednesday that negotiations for debt deals will conclude within days, raising hopes that it can avoid a default.

Monthly hiring figures from private payroll agency ADP were so-so. ADP said private-sector employment rose by 170,000 from December to January. That was 10,000 fewer jobs than expected by analysts surveyed by FactSet. ADP also said November-to-December job growth was smaller than it previously thought ? 292,000 instead of the initially reported 325,000.

Investors also looked past a cautious outlook from temp employee provider ManowerGroup. Its stock jumped 13 percent after fourth-quarter profits came in much higher than expected. But it said that while hiring may increase this spring, the ongoing European debt crisis could slow job creation. It predicted earnings lower earnings in the current quarter than Wall Street had expected.

In other corporate news:

• Amazon.com Inc. fell 8 percent after its quarterly net income fell and revenue growth was slower than Wall Street had expected.
• Whirlpool rose 18.5 percent after higher appliance prices boosted its quarterly profit, and it said it expects shipments to increase as much as 3 percent in North America this year.
• Health insurer Aetna Inc. rose 3.9 percent after reporting a 73 percent jump in fourth-quarter profit on smaller expenses and low usage of health care.
• Carmarkers reported strong U.S. auto sales for January, with gains at all the big companies except General Motors Co. Privately-held Chrysler's U.S. auto sales surged 44 percent and it reported its first annual profit since 1997.

In Europe, the FTSE 100 index of leading British shares was up 1.9 percent at 5,791 while Germany's DAX rose 2.4 percent to 6,617. The CAC-40 in France was 2.1 percent higher at 3,367.

Earlier in Asia, stock markets lacked the same momentum seen in Europe.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 edged up less than 0.1 percent to close at 8,809.79 but Hong Kong's Hang Seng ended down 0.3 percent to 20,333.37. Mainland China's main index in Shanghai also fell 1.2 percent to 2,268.08.

The yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury notes rose 0.042 percentage points to 1.845. The euro rose slightly to almost 1.32 against the dollar.

Oil prices fell after reports that U.S. crude supplies rose last week and energy demand remains weak. West Texas Intermediate crude fell 87 cents to end at $97.61 a barrel in New York. Brent crude rose by 58 cents to finish at $111.56 a barrel in London.

You may recall that the Caliber SRT4 developed upwards of 285 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque from its turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, so the Dart SRT4 should deliver about the same. The most likely option would be a turbocharged version of the Dart's Tigershark 2-liter engine.

To go along with the potent powerplant, SRT will almost certainly add a host of chassis upgrades including stiffened suspension, custom sway bars front and rear, possibly some modifications to the steering to make it faster and more accurate, and uprated wheels, tires and brakes. The latter could even be Brembo units.
