The mild temperatures that had taken up residence in Lexington throughout training camp have disappeared as the Kentucky football team begins final preparations for its season opener, instead replaced by the more common suffocating August heat.
For UK coach Joker Phillips, that's a good thing.
?I know the heat is coming at the right time. It's right on time,? UK coach Joker Phillips said. ?We've had really good weather throughout training camp and the hot weather is coming right at the right time. Some of (the players) aren't feeling it but we've got to push through it. We have to understand why we have to be in this type of weather, so that when we're in the fourth quarter, down seven, 64 yards to go, 2:27 seconds left, we're flawless. We are flawless. That's what we have to be.?
Phillips also discussed team captains, an academic casualty and more after practice. Read what he had to say in the House of Blue.
